St. George

I just realized that I haven't posted pictures from our St. George trip. Caleb and I got a free two-night stay in St. George for listening to a time-share thingy. We spent May 4-6 in St. George to celebrate the end of the semester and spend some time together before our crazy summer. Here are some pictures that highlight our trip:

Brigham Young's winter house... and me. We also saw a lot of other pioneer/historic sites. Those were really neat to see. We even found a picture of my 5-greats grandpa in the Daughters of Utah Pioneers Museum.



On our last day in St. George we stopped at this dinosaur museum where they found thousands of dinosaur tracks. They think this one is a T-rex. Cool, eh?!



Caleb was so excited to see palm trees in Utah. It took him back to his mission in Florida.

Another step complete

I have almost finished painting our front room. Originally the room was wallpaper on a lathe and plaster wall. Instead of painstakingly tearing down the wallpaper, we put up quarter-inch sheet rock over the wallpaper in the front room of our house. Then we painted it light blue with a sand/tan colored accent and white trim. Here are some pictures of the finished sitting room section.

Note the giant mirror. At first we didn't like it, but it has grown on us. :)

The following is a picture of the original room. Don't mind the mess- we were still moving in when this picture was taken. But do take notice of the wallpaper- no bueno.

Hopefully I will be able to finish the trim in the dining area (to the right of where I'm standing to take the above pictures) in the next few weeks. After that, we want to sheetrock and paint the front spare bedroom. Then we'll move into that bedroom so we can sheetrock and paint our bedroom. I'll post pictures as we progress.

Uno Momento

This week has been so crazy! I have so much that I want to tell you, but it's getting late and I am tired. I will try to blog more tomorrow. However, here are some of the coming events about my week:
-Caleb and I both started our internships.
-Some of the adventures I have had in the first week of my new job.
-I finished painting the sitting room section of our front room, with tons of help from Caleb, my mom, and my sister. Pictures coming soon, too.

NOOOOOO!

I can't believe that you are leaving for the entire summer. We will miss you guys? Well...at least you! HEE-HEE!!!! The boys will be sad.

Vacation Time

Caleb and I got a free trip by attending one of those time-share things a few months ago. And we are finally cashing it in. We get a two-nights stay at a Best Western in St. George. Yay! We're so excited to get away for a few days.
We will probably visit the St. George Temple, but we're not sure what else we will be doing. Maybe we'll go to Zions National Park or see some historic sites. I don't know. Sadly, we will miss Brian Regan at the Tuacahn Theater by just a day!

Whatever....

Ok, so it is saying that this page is one of MY blogs instead of one that I am following but I guess that is okay. I will just have to post instead of comment, I guess. I don't really know what is wrong and why it won't let me just add a comment. Sorry, I will keep trying to figure it out. Tenille

The Summer

For my very first blog I don't have anything amazing or inspiring to say, although I tried to think of something cool. :) As it stands, I will begin by giving a run-down of our happenings for this summer.

For me, Holli, I have an internship as a civil engineering technician with the National Forest service. I will be stationed at the office in Provo but we will be doing site surveys and what-not out in the mountains on occasion. For this job, I will be working four 10-hr shifts from Monday to Thursday. That means I get a three day weekend! (And paid holidays-yes!) Also, I will be staying with my parents in West Valley City and my grandma in Orem during the week, and then back to our home in Brigham City. I am really excited to get some job experience and be outdoors!

Caleb has been offered a job with Layton Construction. He is real excited about working for Layton and for the opportunity to move up the totem pole from laborer into the office/management. However, the job they need him for this summer is located in Torrington, Wyoming. Where is Torrington located you may ask? Well, it's about this big: [ ] and is located on the eastern side of Wyoming. (You can click here to see a map.)

Luckily, Layton Construction will pay for at least Caleb's apartment and the gas to drive out there. We're also hoping they can pay for Caleb to come visit me occasionally, too. And in addition to Caleb's job, he will have Army drills one weekend a month and two weeks of training in July. And luckily again, the Army will pay for travel expenses so Caleb can fly over to Boise for drills.

Well, that's pretty much it. It will be crazy, but we'll get to see each other once in a while. We both have some great opportunities that will hopefully lead to bigger and better things, especially for Caleb.
